Chinese Export Red Lacquer Box – 19thC

A Chinoiserie Gilded Red Lacquer Sewing Box – 19thC.
Chinoiserie was all the rage during the Regency period.
The brass handles are Regency swan drop handles – pieces like this were made for the British market and consequently they are rarely seen in China.
This box was probably made in Canton. It would make a very nice jewellery box.
