Square Side Table From Shanxi – 19th Century

This Chinese table is minimalist in style with rounded corners, balanced proportions and pleasing lines. This particular side table dates from the 19th century and originally came from Shanxi province. Originally it would have been coated in a dark lacquer, however, over time, this has worn away on the top leaving just black lacquered legs and a pale elm wood top.
